RESTRICTIONS OF LANGUAGE ALONE
I’ve never been more aware of this issue more than since communicating with the spirit world through inspired writing. I’m talking about how restrictive our language can be. Ok, so if I was more intellectual, perhaps I’d have a more extensive vocabulary. But I’m convinced that even if I knew more than the 20,000 to 30,000 words the average person uses from the available 175,000 words of the English language, there would still be some aspects of our work with spirit that defies words.
I’m not referring to times when I’m in the pub trying to explain to someone that I talk to dead people. I’ve given up on that one years ago! I’m referring to parts of our intuition, our instincts, our deep knowing that we have about some communications from the spirit world.
Often, when I’m listening to the spokesperson talking to me from the other side, I sense their frustration when they appear to be unable to explain something in my restricted vocabulary. I’ve even been told by them how limiting the vocal language can be at times.
This is an issue that all mediums are probably well aware of and are learning to deal with on a regular basis. Occasionally we hear mediums say, “I can’t explain it. I just know what I know.” I think the nearest example I could give you is in trying to explain in detail some of the weird dreams I have. Mind you, Jane gets bored easily listening to me talking about my dreams!
