🔹 MY RESOLUTIONS THIS YEAR
I don’t know about you, but I know I do need to make some changes to my life! I like the notion of new year's resolutions and usually take them seriously. This year we had no decorations for Christmas. Normally we would take them all down on the first day of the new year and put Christmas well and truly behind us. Using that same ‘cleaning’ energy, I usually think about what I need to do differently for the coming year ahead.
I don’t choose outrageous and impossible tasks for changing. Instead, I look at my personal life and consider what needs to change, before planning how to make the changes over the days ahead.
This year I chose the subject of ‘Balance of Life’ after a recent WFSIW speaker suggested I need to consider how to balance my life better. Here are the actual actions I am taking to create that new balance.
FEWER HOURS IN FRONT OF COMPUTERS
I’m restricting myself to a maximum of four hours every working day in front of my computers writing. With four weekly newsletters to produce, this means I will need to sharpen my concentration and stay focused on the job at hand without getting distracted by other screen content. So far, it’s working. Two of the three computers remain black-screened during the writing.SPEND TIME EVERY DAY INVOLVED IN MANUAL PURSUITS
This includes gardening, DIY, work in my shed and similar things. Already this year I have tidied my shed, dismantled a victorian style table to recover the timber, filled a green wheelie bin with leaves, weeded two borders, cleaned the smart car inside and out, jet-washed part of our front driveway and a few other little tasks that needed doing. Oh, and we went out and bought a badly needed second car which we will be using to visit my family in the south.USE THE CAMERAS MORE FOR MY HOBBY
As someone that owns more cameras than you could shake a stick at, I have not found time to use any of them very often. For Christmas, Jane bought me a travel tripod that I had on my Amazon wish list. At this moment, it is not in the supplied case it came with. It is assembled and has my Panasonic camera sitting on top. Every day, I use the camera to film something. Mainly for familiarity and practice, this is rekindling my favourite hobby.SPEND MORE TIME IN THE POWER PRIOR TO WRITING WFSIW
My relationship with my spirit team is strong enough that transcribing their words doesn’t take too long to prepare for. Recently, however, one of the speakers suggested I should spend longer in the power before commencing writing. They want a deeper connection. I will be doing this and will be utilising my cabinet a lot more.USE THE YEAR DIARY TO NOTE ANYTHING SIGNIFICANT FROM THE DAY
I bought a lovely big diary before Christmas that has a day-to-view layout. At the end of every day, I am making notes on what I did during that day, what words and what colours were dominant and why, interesting phrases and anything else I want to note. This trains me to be more alert to my surroundings during the day. It helps sharpen my observation and hearing senses.
Those are my five resolutions that will make an impact on my balance and quality of life. So far, so good! By writing them in this public arena, I am somewhat hung by my tongue. That said, I am quite strong on this sort of stuff, so don’t really need the motivation. Perhaps, if you’re brave enough, you might like to share your resolutions below in the comments. Your call! ⚓
