🔹 CHANGES AHEAD
I opened the Sanctuary's outer door with trepidation and stepped into the cold reception hall where the temperature matched that of the garden. Slowly, I opened the inner door to the main sanctuary room and proceeded to turn on the ceiling lights.
The only odd times I had been in this room since stopping the Spirited Talk podcasts were the few occasions I had used the corner cabinet for meditation. A dust cover had remained over the control desk, lighting, monitors and cameras. This studio had meant so much to me. It was one of my workplaces, doing something I enjoyed so much.
For a moment or two, I stood looking at the equipment, somewhat visible through the polythene covers and aided by the red glow from the studio desk clock underneath. Several guests, including Neil Bradley, Adam Berry, Val Williams and of course Gwen Acorah had sat in here for their interviews. These historic and special occasions would have to remain with me in memory only, because today, the studio was to be dismantled - finally.
It took just five hours to unplug, dismantle, box, disconnect, and wind up all the cables, before unscrewing the worktops from their fixings and removing them from the room.
The end of an era for sure? Not so. Everything evolves and so must Spirited Talk. I have new plans, new ideas and many changes to complete over the early months of 2023. From the embers, something might be created. Watch this space - as the cliche goes! ▪
